Henderson is almost 108 square miles, edged by gently sloping mountains with ancient volcanic rock covering, including Black Mountain and the McCullough Range. Being in the Mojave Desert, Henderson wildlife and vegetation includes typical desert animals, birds and plant species. It enjoys close to 300 sunny days a year, with an average rainfall of six inches.
Henderson Economy
Over 93% of adults living in Henderson have at least a high school diploma, and a third have a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Henderson has the top-rated education in Nevada, with an array of public, magnet, charter, private schools and colleges to choose from.
The city has experienced tremendous economic growth, thanks to aggressive government and community programs designed to attract modern industries. Henderson Recreation
It seems like there’s a community park in every Henderson neighborhood, each with covered modern playsets and jungle gyms to keep the heat off the little ones. You’ll also find grassy play areas, splash pads, picnic tables, basketball hoops and more.
In addition, some of the best and biggest park attractions in the world can be found in Henderson. The 100-acre Cornerstone Park features a 31-acre lake, home to a variety of birds and animals, as well as nature trails, picnic areas and sports facilities. Just to the north, and connected by a tunnel, is the impressive Arroyo Grande Sports Complex & Pittman Wash Trail. This 56-acre park contains a myriad of sports facilities including baseball diamonds, soccer fields and basketball courts, plus a playground, disc golf course, BMX park, dog park and walking trails.
The 324-acre Sunset Regional Park is the crown jewel in Clark County’s park system. The amenity-laden park surrounds a manmade lake where you can fish, as well as nine softball fields, two Little League fields, eight basketball courts, eight tennis courts, seven beach volleyball courts, five playgrounds, several miles of walking paths, splash pad, disc golf course, dog park and numerous picnic areas. Other favorite public parks in Henderson include Hidden Falls Park, Mission Hills Park, Anthem Hills Park and Reunion Trails Park.
Just north of downtown Henderson you’ll find the 2,900-acre Clark County Wetlands Park and Nature Preserve Trail, presenting an opportunity to experience Southern Nevada flora and fauna close up. The Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area has several trailhead entrances for more aggressive hiking and exploration of petroglyphs.
The 35-mile River Mountains Loop Trail goes all the way to Lake Mead National Recreational Area and Boulder City, with stunning views of Lake Mead and the Las Vegas Valley. It also leads to Bootleg Canyon, where you’ll find four Flightlinez zip lines up to half a mile long each.
Henderson’s Most Luxurious Neighborhoods

Lake Las Vegas
The 3,600-acre Lake Las Vegas neighborhood features a gorgeous 320-acre lake perfectly suited to water activities like boating, kayaking and paddle-boarding. It’s the number one choice for outdoor lovers due to its proximity to Lake Mead National Recreation Area and the Clark County Wetlands Park.
Anthem

It’s also home to two major golf clubs and some of the best parks.
MacDonald Ranch
Home to over 13,000 residents, the 1,200-acre MacDonald Ranch is one of Henderson’s most desirable luxurious master-planned communities.
